What is the process like after I purchase?
After purchase, you receive an automated email giving you the link to the questionnaire. The questionnaire has approximately 20 questions (depending on your state) that ask for the personal information required to draft your will. You simply fill out the questionnaire and click submit. The rest is up to us. We take your answers, analyze your needs and desires, come up with an approach to accomplish these goals, and then draft your will. Within 3-7 business days, you get your will along with instructions on how to sign your will. If you have any questions along the way, we are available by phone or email to answer them. After you receive your will, if you would like to make changes, or if, for some reason, something has changed between getting the questionnaire and signing your will, just let us know and we can update the will. Its as simple as that.
In what format do I get the will?
We will send you both a PDF and .DOC version of your will. We like to send both so that you can make changes to it if you would like. For example, if you have another child a year after getting your will, there is no reason you should have to pay to have your will updated to add one name. So we provide you an editable version for ease of updating.
I am not very knowledgeable about legal terminology. How much do I need to know to fill this out?
You don't need to know any legal terminology to do your part. Wills can be intimidating, but that is what we do. All you need to do is fill out information about yourself and your family. This requires no interpretation on your part. That is what we do on our end. But in case you have questions, we are here to provide support to you during the process.
What support is available to me while I am filling out your questionnaire?
Our website has three different ways to contact us. First is a contact form on the "Contact" page. Second is an email. If you email Bo@jonaslegal.com, that will go directly to me and we will respond. Third is by phone. The phone number is not for a call center. That is actually my cell phone number. If you need support, you will get it. We are available to answer any questions that you have during the process or after the process. We have had cases where no support was required. But we have also had cases where we exchanged several email and other conversations before the order, during the questionnaire, and after the will was returned. If you have questions, we will answer them. We want you to be comfortable during the process and confident after the process that you are protected. We will do whatever we can to ensure that happens.
What support is available after I get my will?
After you get your will, you may have questions about some of the provisions. Feel free to contact us by one of the three methods on our website (contact form, phone, or email). If you don't understand a provision? ask us and we will explain it to you. If you entered information wrong on the questionnaire and only notice the error after you get the will back, let us know and we will correct it. We have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and we stand by that guarantee.
How long does the questionnaire take to fill out?
Normally it takes about 15-20 minutes, but this can vary. If you haven't given a lot of thought toward the will, it could take a little bit longer. For example, it may take a few extra minutes if you haven't finally decided on who you want to leave your assets to. See the question below on "What kinds of questions are on the questionnaire?" to see if there is anything that may make the process go a little bit longer for you.
What kinds of questions are on the questionnaire?
Most of the questions are about your personal situation, such as "Do you have children?" and "If so, what are their ages." But some of the questions are about your wishes, such as "Do you want to leave any specific property to any specific person?" or "Do you want to name someone as the administrator of your estate to manage and distribute your assets?"
There is also one question about real estate that may take a few minutes to find the answer to. If you own real estate, it is important that we know the method of ownership to ensure that it is consistent with your goals. So we ask that question. You can find this information on your deed - it will usually say something like "Seller grants to [your name]" and then contains a qualifier such as "Husband and Wife," "Tenants in Common," "Joint Tenants," or "Tenants By The Entireties." These few words after your name on your deed tell us a lot about your ownership, so we need to know that information. If you have trouble finding that, we can help you figure it out.
Am I just getting a form?
No, we don't just provide a form will. We take your information, consider your goals, and then determine what needs to go into the will for you. This is a will that has been drafted specifically for you by a licensed attorney. We do have several standard clauses that we use in particular situations and some that are "boilerplate" (meaning that they are in all wills). But your end product will be unique and drafted specifically for your particular situation.
How can you afford to offer this service at such a low price?
We get this question a lot, but the answers are fairly simple. First, we don't have very high overhead. Since you fill out your part online, and interact with us electronically, we don't have to pay for lots of furniture and a large office. Second, all Jonas Legal PLLC does is draft wills. By focusing on this specific area of law, I can become very knowledgeable about all aspects of wills, without having to spend extra time on other unrelated areas of the law. For example, since I focus only on wills, I don't practice criminal law, which means that I don't have to have a law library about criminal law nor do I have to have all the infrastructure that criminal law lawyers have. I also don't have to spend a lot of my time driving to court. I focus on keeping up to date on Estate Planning law and drafting a quality product for you.
What states are you licensed in?
Jonas Legal PLLC has attorneys that are licensed in Virginia, Utah, and more are on the way. We are seeking to expand our practice into other states by forming partnerships with other attorneys like us, so our services will be offered in other states soon. If you found our site but are in a state where we don't currently have attorneys, check back regularly because we are expanding rapidly.
How it works
Fill out the form after checkout, and have your will drafted and reviewed by a licensed attorney in your state. This will be an attorney's work product tailored just for you.
Married? need two wills?
Everybody needs a will. That means that if you are married, both spouses will need a separate will. But you shouldn't have to pay double the price, when it is not double the work.
